Galvanizing is the process of applying a metallurgically bonded zinc coating to steel by immersion in molten zinc and is used extensively throughout the world for corrosion protection. The coating’s excellent corrosion protection derives from both the low natural corrosion rate of zinc coupled with its ability to extend protection to adjacent exposed steel areas should they be present, an effect known as cathodic protection.
